Failed restore: The file format is wrong.

Post by nethead »

Hello,

after having problems with our rate table getting created correctly when a new year is created i tried to restore from backups. I had hoteldruid 2.2 installed and i have a couple of backup files matching this version. Everytime i try to restore a backup i got "The file format is wrong."

Ok, so i did upgrade to the current 3.05 version of Hoteldruid, created a new backup and low and behold, when i try to import the freshly created backup file i get "The file format is wrong. Errors: #54b" error again...

I am puzzled.. How can i fix this?

Alternativly, any idea what hinders hoteldruid from correctly migrating the rate table from one year to the next? I did load a pre-covid database from 2019, i get the prompt for importing data into 2023 (using the daily option) but the rates and extra costs fail to be migrated...

cheers,

Arnd

Hello Arnd,
when creating years prices are imported only for existing periods in previous years. For example if in your database you have periods only until December 2026, when you create 2027 no price will be imported.

If you want to import price from same periods in previous year then you should use "add periods" button from below the rates table (but periods from 2 years before won't be imported either). So you should add periods to current year (also for next years) and wait to create next year until 10th of January (when it is created automatically), as explained also by warnings in hoteldruid.

Regards,
Marco
