we use booking agencies like booking.com and our own local tourism board daily. if we put rooms in their system, i understand we use assignment rule 1 for each room and period we put in, correct?

Hello Friso,
sometimes you give some apartments to agencies for renting, and if you want to insert your own reservations there you must inform the agency previously. In this case you can use rule 1, as it will try not to use those apartments (overriding apartments priority) and if there are no alternatives it will display a warning, so you can inform the agency and if everithing is ok you can continue inserting the reservation.

So it all depends on the contract you have with the agency, whether you have to inform them of your reservations or it's them informing you of theirs. In the second case you can create a new php-residence user for them to insert reservations if they are willing to use php-residence directly.
