error creating database

I have just installed the application and on creating the database get the following:
"Warning: dl() has been disabled for security reasons in /REMOVED/php-residence/includes/funzioni_mysql.php on line 37
Data inserted!
All the permanent data has been inserted."
The application appears to work but always puts up the warning line on each screen apart from menu. Have not yet tested every function.
Line 37 refers to mysql.so. I found one post in the forum which suggested removing line 37 but I do not understand what the effects will be.
Any ideas??
