How to stop http://localhost redirecting to inizio.php

Hi, please can you assist with the following, I am running MAMP on MAC OSX leopard (Apache/2.0.63 (Unix) PHP/5.3.2 DAV/2 Server at localhost Port 80) and have a number of test websites that I have setup in my sites folder. I recently set up php-residence as I am new to PHP and am trying to learn the language and following my setup of php-residence, whenever I type localhost to access another site I get redirected to http://localhost/inizio.php?
How can I change this setup as I cannot access my other websites as it forces me to go to inizio.php? This works fine if I am in the php-residence folder however I would like to be able to change the directory to access my other sites as I could previously.
