Lost dati directory data but have sql db

Post by nethead »

Hi,

i had our local server going down and i am in the process of setting up our booking on a different server. I am sure to made a copy of all files but the dati directory is empty except the file "DATI" :( I could get "dati_connessione.php" from an older backup but all the "selectperiodiYEAR.N.php" and "selectperiodimenuYEAR.php" are missing.

Is there any way to generate the "dati" files from the database?

cheers,

Arnd

I assume you are not hosting on Hotel Druid Arni.

I've a couple sites, one for an acquaintence not yet on Hotel Druid - I had backups through the hosting site but did have troubles when the day came I needed to restore.

I would upload my backup to the hosting site Site5.com (they are not to helpful since Host Gator bought them last year) and the restore would fail.

It turned out I had to delete the mySQL database as well, or tell them the name of the database so they could delete it.
Then they could do a restore and it did it without the error and Failure.

When you are in your Hotel Druid Reservation system if you click on

Configure

on the top right of the screen, you can see your version number. Ideally you know and have wrote down your version as Marco has the different older versions on the site and I think if you install the correct version then you should either be able to upload the database and have it accept it. Then do a complete backup, then update to most current. I was in the 2.0? range and could not just use the latest so went 2.1.? then 2.2.2 .

You may be able to simply provide your database to Marco if going to his hosting, the reason I went to Hotel Druid Hosting on my primary site was I have heard how Google is penalizing those without a https:// secure site . Using Hotel Druid hosting allowed me to put the site there covered under his secure certificate but regrettably Hotel Druid are not yet doing the email so I continued to keep my site

http://PlayaLindaHotel.com as well just for the email aspect and domain forwarding to the account on hotel druid.

Anyway it appears a side benefit of having my site at Hotel Druid is 30 days of consecutive backups, plus I was able to also link the availability form and website to Facebook which requires https://

https://www.facebook.com/PlayaLindaHotel/

It seems people find my website, then check out the Google and Facebook thoughts, then still want to ignore the reservation form to talk directly, I created a short link to the reservation form using bit.ly and have that link to the form both on the Facebook Messenger auto replies and on WhatsApp on the cellphone. A few months ago the free WhatsApp introduced the free WhatsApp business you can download and again I have the availability form their so people calling get the form immediately, and of course then we can call them back.

I like the look of the InstantPayment form Marco has on his paid version but don't trust us not to end up with Double bookings, I would ideally like to have the client enter the desired date then have a form similar to InstantPayment come up showing all the available rooms, instead of having to select the desired type as is done on the regular availability form. Anything to get them to use the form 1st.

Hi,

thx for the lengthy reply. I did manage to get the server in our resort up again. Seems to have either a faulty motherboard or a faulty power supply. The error i made had been that i copied the wrong directory. I did copy a directory with a fresh hoteldruid version from the last upgrade and not the one in production :) Stupid me...

We are located in Indonesia and internet is not reliable enough to put a booking system on a remote server. In addition i own 2 rackservers in a colocation in Europe for our website. So it doesnt make a lot sense to me to pay extra for hosting.

Thx & best regards,

Arnd

I do know the feeling, PlayaLindaHotel.com is located on a beach in southern Mexico. Until last year there was only Cellular access. Fortunately a company came along that wanted to broadcast along this beach and put a tower on top of our hotel to rebroadcast from. We still pay for a connection but did not have to buy the tower, the price is about what we paid for cellular but with a lot more Gigs and bandwidth. With decent connection I can be more cloud oriented.

In my case the cost of hosting is balanced by the savings on a https:// certificate. For this experiment on my part as to if https: improves my return on investment, and I really do want to see Marco stay in business.

I have been reworking my site and would appreciate if others could check it out, short of placing reservations. I will try to post a new thread, perhaps in Features and suggestions because I really could use some, though thats not whats meant of course.

Thanks,

Ken Graham
