{UPGRADING}Looking for Adventure, Come on a Joy Ride with me

Post by whacker »

Been a while since I updated

Latest Version has been downloaded to my Laptop and extracted 2.1.3

Looked at the ReadMe.

Not very clear on what to do next.

My Files etc are all on a remote server
I have done this before, and can't remember didly, other then it was an Adventure

Any Suggestions?
EDIT 18 Jan 3:02

UPGRADING FROM PREVIOUS VERSIONS
Before upgrading you should make a backup of the database
with the hoteldruid backup system and save hoteld_backup.php,
otherwise you could LOSE ALL DATA! Also check that the new
required software is compatible with your current one.
Leave in the folder where hoteldruid or php-residence is
installed only the folder dati (with write permission for the
web server) deleting all the rest. After that, copy the files of
the new version (except the folder dati naturally) and BEFORE
ANYTHING ELSE access the main menu (as administrator user if the
login is activated) and press the "update" button waiting until
it ends to load the page. If add-on modules or themes are used
remember to copy them too with the new version files.
It's possible to change from a postgresql database to a mysql
one or vice versa using the backup system.

If you're using a sqlite database, upgrading to a new version
is not supported for HotelDruid versions before 2.0. If you have
an earlier version, firstly you'll have to move to a mysql or
postgresql database with the backup system.

If you're using a mysql version inferior to 4.1 it's recommended
to create a backup file before upgrading mysql to a version
equal or superior to 4.1 and to restore that file just after it.

If you are upgrading from a version prior to 1.1 then internet
templates evetually present in their default locations will be
renamed. Files with the old names including the contents of the
files with the new names will be created too, but it's
recommended to update the links in the rest of your site to

I copied and pasted the italic portion from the ReadMe file in the Download

Step #1 Create a Backup of the Database using Hotel Druid
- this creates a automatic backup file in the dati folder "_backup.php

Step #2 Also check that the new
required software is compatible with your current one.

Huum, stumped, at the 1st road block, what do I do here?
I am going to assume this is referring to the Software run on the remote site ie apache mysql etc. and that it is ok

Step#3 remove all files and folders other then the folder dati and its contents.

Step#4 transfer , upload, ftp all the new version files to the folder which contains the dati folder

Step #5 access the main menu of PHP res. Hotel druid, and click on the update button, and wait till it finishs

That's it folks , it worked for me.

Well now, not so quick

Turns out we are getting errors trying to create 2016, the system says the database has been created, yet we can't enter a reservation, as the dates are not good

LoL..

I guess this is why small inns and b and b's need to hire cooks and bottle washers so the others can look after the computer stuff

Gonna do another update, I get this feeling this is going downhill though

Hi
We have given up, after 10 years we have found there's just not enough users to help support the issues I and others have.

Perhaps with hosting by "Marco" these issues wouldn't exist, I reckon though language issues may become a barrier.

Good Luck with this venture Marco, but it's just not for us.

As we have had others call us asking If we are ising this and happy with it, we kindly ask you take us of the list of websites..

Thanks again for the effort you put in to create this..

Hello Walter,
as stated in the readme you have pasted it is recommended to make a backup with "hoteldruid backup system" and "save hoteld_backup.php,
otherwise you could LOSE ALL DATA!". I can't think how state it clearer than this.

If you have the hoteldruid backup file you can install the old version of hoteldruid from zero and restore the backup.

That said this is only a precaution, please don't be afraid to upgrade following the steps in the readme. I've upgraded for more than 15 years without problems.

Regards,
Marco
